BOOM: Building on our Momentum is a learning conference featuring a series of events centered on the experience of conversation and community engagement. Sessions are designed by members of the community for the entire community and will meet participants where they are in their learning and comfort in engaging in sessions on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our diversity shines brightest when we bring our full selves together as one community. BOOM is a moment where we can come together as one community to think deeply and collectively about how we engage with each other.

Critical Social Thought Major
Audre Lorde Project
This summer, Michelle interned at the Audre Lorde Project (ALP), whose offices are located in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York and was founded in 1994. ALP is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, two-spirit, transgender and gender non-conforming people of color community-organizing center, which focuses on the New York City area. As an intern Michelle had a variety of responsibilities ranging from helping organize for rallies and protests to calling local hospitals and medical centers to finding information for safe places for transgender and gender non-conforming people of color to receive medical attention. Throughout her time at ALP, Michelle got to take part in activism and community organizing that seeks justice through decolonization, abolition of the police state and learning about alternative methods for community wellness.
