BOOM: Building on our Momentum is a learning conference featuring a series of events centered on the experience of conversation and community engagement. Sessions are designed by members of the community for the entire community and will meet participants where they are in their learning and comfort in engaging in sessions on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our diversity shines brightest when we bring our full selves together as one community. BOOM is a moment where we can come together as one community to think deeply and collectively about how we engage with each other.

Understand difference. Ask hard questions. Plan to act.

“It was music you could reach out and touch”: Interning at Yellow Barn Music Festival in Putney, Vermont
This presentation is about my experience as a Production Intern at Yellow Barn, an international center for chamber music, during its 50th anniversary season. During my summer, I learned a new vocabulary, listened to music I never heard before, was adopted into a thriving small town arts ecology, experienced the intimacy and challenges of working at a small arts nonprofit, and was a part of making art happen. I was able to take my theoretical knowledge of arts administration from inside the classroom and see it in action, while interacting directly with administrators and artists. Even though I am not a Music Major or a musician, I learned from stepping into the world of classical music that a career in the arts is possible.
