BOOM: Building on our Momentum is a learning conference featuring a series of events centered on the experience of conversation and community engagement. Sessions are designed by members of the community for the entire community and will meet participants where they are in their learning and comfort in engaging in sessions on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

How I landed in consulting; now there is nothing else I would rather do

This summer, I had the opportunity to intern at PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in the Middle East. Going into an internship there are always some unknowns. For me, I was not aware of the extent to which consultants use excel. The education we receive in classrooms can only prepare us so much for the real world. I mastered excel at work. I was able to do research on the upcoming softwares; Alteryx and Power BI and introduced it to my team. The clients we were working with had different branches all over the Middle East. I was assigned to one of the client sites along with my mentor where I was able to analyze data, remediate files, coordinate with the Relations Manager of the branch and come up with possible solutions. This internship helped me explore my hidden skills, learn about myself, and broaden my networks.
