The market for alternative investments is now around $15 trillion, up more than 85% since 2002. How does a professional association in this rapidly growing space foster global networks and professional development for industry professionals globally? In my three months as a chapter relations intern, I was able to piece together various aspects of CAIA Association’s strategy in supporting communities of professionals in alternative investments around the world. I found three things to be key in CAIA Association’s strategy of supporting and expanding the professional community in alternative investments: providing a global network of industry professionals, advancing and providing access to academic research on the industry and offering leadership opportunities.
