What does it take to grow a business? How can a liberal arts education background add a valuable perspective to consulting? How can consultants play a role in creating social change and impact? This summer I went behind the scenes as an intern for The Azara Group, a leadership and strategy consulting start-up, and explored these questions during my time there. My role focused on supporting the expansion of a start-up through research and content creation. I had many opportunities to closely examine the business challenges faced by various industries and organizations, and to craft proposals for action steps and multi-faceted solutions. In this work, I was able to revisit larger societal issues that I was familiar with in the context of industries and organizations that I did not have prior in-depth knowledge of. By connecting the familiar and new, I was able to come away with a meaningful experience.
